Commission Process

I have had the pleasure of working with some of the most respected designers in Houston and enjoy working relationships built on trust, honesty and hard work. The following process has worked for me in the past and I feel it gives both myself and my client a few guidelines and some flexibility to make our ideas work together toward the ultimate goal of a one-of-a-kind sculptural art piece.

	Step 1	Call me: 281-250-5830, or e-mail at omar@omarangelperez.com we can discuss the commission process, your project and set a preliminary meeting.
	Step 2	Preliminary Meeting: Many clients have seen my work and are familiar with my craftsmanship and quality. If you have not, I invite you to see my work at my studio/ home. In this meeting we can discuss your project and present some preliminary ideas, location of piece, how it will be used, etc...
	Step 3	Preliminary Design: There is a $300 non-refundable charge for this phase. In this step you have given me the go ahead to start design process. Usually this takes about 2-3 weeks, yet with larger projects a month is not uncommon, During this time I will work on (2) separate designs for your piece which includes an accurate sketch and scale drawings for each idea. Each design has its own features and price point. (see pricing at bottom of page) I also supply samples of veneer, finishes and solid woods in this step. 	Step 4	Design Approval: Once we are all satisfied with the direction of the piece we are ready to begin construction. At this point you have approved the final drawings, we have set a tentative delivery date and agreed on a firm price.
	Step 5	Construction: A 50% deposit is needed to begin construction. During this phase, remember that my shop is always open to you and your clients. Especially with new relationships, I want you to feel comfortable with how your project is progressing. This phase can take 3-6 months or longer for larger commissions. Also, please consider that I hand build every piece and I will have to schedule yours after finishing another.
	Step 6	Final Payment and Delivery: Upon completion and your satisfaction, final payment is due and delivery can be scheduled. I can certainly hand deliver smaller works in the Houston area. Beyond that, crating and packaging charges will be incurred.
	Pricing	My one-of-a-kind pieces of art furniture can range in pricing due to a number of factors including: wood selection, veneer choices, availability of materials, schedule, etc... These examples represent the price range for similar pieces of size and detail.
